Skeleton strippers are back one year after controversial display
GRANTSVILLE, Utah (KSTU) - A Halloween decoration display from the Utah city of Grantsville went viral last year.
It showed skeletons pole dancing in a neighborhood.
While it was briefly taken down, the city is now embracing the publicity it received from the exotic decoration.
“Businesses not only are doing it, but as private citizens, it’s an amazing experience to do this,” Grantsville Mayor Neil Critchlow said. “People are taking walks with their kids.”
The city of Grantsville has now asked businesses to go all out for skeletons for a Halloween decorating competition.
“When they came up with this, I was happy because it was a chance for them to show that they all have a great sense of humor and they love that the town wants to do fun things and support each other in doing fun things,” Christina Keener, a Grantsville business owner, said.
The idea came from skeletons pole dancing in a Grantsville neighborhood in 2023.
“It went pretty viral last year, and then it’s kind of gotten more exotic,” local resident Bryan Duvall said. “We have the stripper crew down there at our neighbors and it’s kind of turned into a whole neighborhood thing.”
This year, the family went ahead with the same tradition.
Bryan and Breyker Duvall live down the street and say they’re huge fans of Halloween.
“If you look over here, you’ll see that there’s one right here and one over there is waving her arm and she has money,” Breyker Duvall described. “That big guy over here is security and you have to be 21 or older to enter.”
Breyker Duvall is just happy that the whole town is now celebrating his favorite holiday.
“I just love Halloween, my favorite time of year,” Breyker Duvall said. “Everybody loves it.”
This year, it’s spooky skeletons for everyone.
Last year, the city did request that the stripping skeletons be taken down because it was attached to a city street sign.
The residents did put it back up in their own yard and with their own pole.
