Truck driver arrested for DUI admits to drinking Fireball while behind the wheel, authorities say

OXFORD, Iowa (KCRG/Gray News) - Iowa authorities say a truck driver admitted to drinking from a bottle of Fireball while driving on Interstate 80 in Johnson County.

According to a criminal complaint, a person reported a semitruck driving recklessly on westbound I-80 on Thursday.

Police said they initiated a traffic stop and pulled over the truck in question which was driven by 58-year-old Scott Snyder of Stony Creek, Virginia.

Authorities said truck driver Scott Snyder showed measurable impairment during a roadside field sobriety test.

While talking to investigators, they said Snyder admitted to drinking Fireball, an alcoholic beverage, around lunchtime. He also said he kept the bottle in his cab and was drinking from it while he was driving.

According to the complaint, Snyder showed measurable impairment during a roadside field sobriety test and a preliminary breathalyzer showed he had a .149% blood alcohol content level, above the state’s legal limit of .08% BAC.

Snyder was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence - 2nd offense.
