WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will tour parts of Florida and Georgia that have been devastated by Hurricane Helene.

The president will visit the areas that were impacted by the storm and meet with people there, after Helene made landfall and moved across the Southeast last week.

The White House did not specify where the president will be visiting in the two states.

On Wednesday, Biden toured storm-ravaged areas of North Carolina and South Carolina.

Thousands remain without power and cell phone service across the region and at least 180 people have been killed.

The president said on Wednesday that he has now deployed 1,000 active duty soldiers to help with the aid efforts and also said that the nation will help all of those affected.

“Hurricane Helene has been a storm of historic proportions. The damage is still being assessed, but many people are still unaccounted for. So I’m here to say the United States, the nation has your back. The nation has your back. We’re not leaving until you’re back on your feet, completely,” he said.

Some congressional lawmakers, who are in recess, are also are pushing for a return to Washington to pass additional disaster relief funding for the states impacted by the storm.
