24-year-old flagger hit, killed by car while working in construction zone

ORLAND, Maine (WABI/Gray News) - A flagger in Maine was killed Tuesday morning after being hit by a car, according to officials.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said 24-year-old Charles Resh was struck on Acadia Highway in Orland just before 7 a.m.

Authorities said the location was turned into a construction zone for paving.

Resh was engaged in traffic control in the construction zone when he was hit by a car driven by a 70-year-old man, according to the sheriff’s office.

Resh was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
