U.S. Marshals arrest more than 3,000 fugitives

(Gray News) - U.S. Marshals arrested more than 3,000 fugitives during the latest phase of Operation North Star FY 2024.

A total of 3,421 violent fugitives were arrested including 216 for homicide, 803 for assault and 482 for weapons offenses, according to the Justice Department.

The arrests happened between May 10 and Sept. 13, and targeted fugitives in 10 metropolitan areas - Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas; Charleston and North Charleston, South Carolina; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Little Rock, Arkansas; Phoenix; St. Louis; Birmingham, Alabama; Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Dayton, Ohio and San Antonio.

During the operation, investigators also seized 534 firearms, more than $508,000 and 456 kilograms of illegal narcotics, including more than 138 pounds of deadly fentanyl.
