Pedestrian hit by 3 vehicles dies, police say

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) – A 68-year-old woman died after being hit by three vehicles while trying to cross a road in Virginia Saturday night.

Officials with Virginia State Police said Aniela Kowalczyk was hit by a driver after trying to cross the eastbound lanes of Route 460 near the intersection of Scotts Farm Road around 8:15 p.m.

She was then hit by the driver of a 2010 Toyota Tacoma and a third time by the driver of a 2021 GMC Canyon, according to police.

Kowalczyk died at the scene.

Officials said all drivers involved remained at the scene and none of them were hurt.

According to police, there is no crosswalk in the area and Kowalczyk was wearing dark clothing at the time.

The crash remains under investigation.
