Kamala Harris campaign office damaged by gunfire days ahead of scheduled rally
TEMPE, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) - Arizona police say they are investigating damage at a Democratic Party campaign office in Tempe, again.
According to Tempe police, officers were called to the office on Monday just after midnight for reported building damage from gunshots.
No one was hurt, but holes can be seen in the front windows and glass door of the office.
“No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby,” Officer Sgt. Ryan Cook said.
Authorities said it appears the building was hit by a BB or pellet gun.
The case is currently being investigated as a property crime because no one was in the office at the time of the shooting.
“We are grateful to Tempe police for coming quickly to the scene and are fortunate no one was present or injured,” Sean McEnerney, the coordinated campaign manager for the Arizona Democratic Party, said.
Police say they are investigating all possible motives as the office has been damaged now twice in just the last two weeks.
Anyone with further information has been urged to contact the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
Harris is scheduled to campaign in the battleground state on Friday in what would be her second Arizona campaign stop since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee.
