‘It looks like a kid’: Video shows 8-year-old girl driving herself to Target

BEDFORD, Ohio (Gray News) – Dash cam video has been released showing an 8-year-old girl in Ohio driving herself to a Target store Sunday.

The Bedford Police Department said they responded to a report for a missing child and vehicle.

WOIO reported police had sent out a “be on the lookout” notfication for the girl and SUV.

They said neighbors of the family told them a Ring doorbell camera had captured video of the girl getting into the SUV and driving away.

Police said they then received a call from Justin Kimery, who was driving when he spotted the SUV swerving on the road.

“There’s a guy in a car, he’s like right behind me. He’s swerving all over, he’s swerving everywhere like in all the lanes,” Kimery can be heard saying to a police dispatcher in newly released dash cam video.

Kimery continues keeping up with the swerving SUV for at least 5 minutes while communicating with dispatchers. At one point, his vehicle is side by side with the SUV, giving him a chance to look at the driver.

“It looks like a kid,” he can be heard saying in the video.

Police said the girl drove a total of 24 minutes from her home to Target.

When officers arrived at the store, they said they found the SUV in the parking lot.

The girl was located by officers inside the store.

Police said the girl told them she had hit a mailbox on her way to the store.
