2 high school students killed in ATV crash, officials say
TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY, N.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - Two high school students were killed in an ATV crash in North Carolina Saturday, according to authorities.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the boys were identified as Layne Jones and Jayden Reynaldo.
Troopers said the two were driving a 2015 Polaris sportsman four-wheeler on Old Wagon Road in Transylvania County when they went around a curve and off the road, hitting a tree.
Both of the victims attended Rosman High School.
The Transylvania County School District released a statement regarding the loss of the two beloved students.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of losing two of our beloved Rosman High School students in a devastating accident,” the district said. “Our community has been struck by an unimaginable loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these remarkable young individuals.”
Deputies with the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office also left a heartfelt message to the friends and family of the victims, saying, “our prayers will be with you all during this difficult time.”
