LOVELAND, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) - An Ohio woman doing her nails accidentally started an overnight fire at her condo complex.

According to the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department, flames broke out about midnight on Wednesday inside the woman’s second-floor unit at Carrington Crossings.

Fire officials said the woman was using a burning tool on her fingernails when something began to melt. She caught some of the overflow in a container and thought she had it under control, but it got so hot it caught fire and ignited.

Flames ended up going up the wall of her condo, over the firewall separating her unit from others and then into the attic.

A portion of the second floor collapsed onto the first floor, authorities said.

Dozens of residents were displaced in the blaze, with a total of 24 units suffering some sort of damage.

A spokeswoman for the American Red Cross said they were assisting 38 people affected by the fire.

Fire officials did not have an immediate estimate of damage. No injuries were reported.
