WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - At a quickly announced press conference, former President Donald Trump sought to halt Harris’s momentum since she became the Democratic presidential nominee. Vice President Harris and her new running mate are barnstorming key battleground states.

The former president addressing the media from his home in South Florida. He called out the Democratic presidential ticket as too far left and out of the mainstream.

“There’s never been anything like this. There’s never been a combination. So I’ll use the word progressive. You know, they want to go progressive. They don’t like the word liberal. I like liberal better. I think it’s more appropriate because nobody knows what progressive means, but they now like to use the word progressive. But there’s certainly never been anybody so liberal like these two or even close.”

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have been attracting huge crowds, energizing Democrats since announcing their ticket Tuesday night.

“Let me tell you, we have the enthusiasm, the Republican Party and me as a candidate, but the Republican Party has the enthusiasm because people want to see crime stopped. They want to see a country that’s respected.”

Trump says he’s agreed to three debates in September. ABC has confirmed one debate on September 10th.

“I just look forward to these debates. I think it’s very important that we have them. I hope she agrees to them. September 4th, September 10th, September 25th. And I think they’ll be very revealing.”

With Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, receiving high disapproval ratings in recent polling, Trump stood by his choice for vice president.

“J.D. Vance has really stepped up. He’s doing a fantastic job.”

Trump’s press conference was his first public appearance since Vice President Harris announced her running mate. Harris has not taken any questions from the media since she became the Democratic presidential nominee.
