How the Trump team is utilizing social media in Election 2024
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - While Vice President Kamala Harris’ has garnered a lot of popularity on social media in recently, conservatives have also been heavily utilizing the internet to get their message across for the 2024 presidential election.
The Trump campaign says there is a clear appetite for online content about the former president, who quickly emerged as a TikTok star after joining the platform in June.
“Really now where you see him pioneering once again is actually with the use of TikTok. You know, we know that short form content this election and beyond is really the new town square,” said Caroline Sunshine, the deputy communications director for the campaign
Trump’s account has garnered almost 9.5 millions followers and his content has generated as much as 167 million views.
Sunshine said that through TikTok, Truth Social and other platforms, Trump and his campaign are directly connecting with voters.
“There’s a clear appetite for President Trump’s content. We see, you know, on the qualitative side, what people like about President Trump and especially what young people are seeing like they like his authenticity. They like that he’s not politically correct,” she said.
Trump content is also being generated by plenty of other TikTok users too. The content especially took off last month, after the attempted assassination of the former president.
According to the company Zelf, which monitors TikTok analytics, there were 6 billion views of Trump content in the week after the attempt.
The campaign also said to expect much more Trump content in the months ahead.
