MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - A missing Tennessee man is believed to be dead after a body was discovered inside his burned car at the city of Memphis’ impound lot.

According to the Horn Lake Police Department, the body found on Monday is believed to be 20-year-old Jaderious Webb.

Authorities said Webb had been missing since last Friday.

Webb’s car was discovered in flames at the intersection of Weaver and Tully roads in southwest Memphis over the weekend, police said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and the car was then towed to the city’s impound lot.

Memphis police said the body was later discovered inside the rear passenger area of the burned vehicle.

Investigators said they found the body while checking the vehicle in the impound lot.

According to Webb’s family, a girl he was with before he was reported missing may have been involved in his disappearance.

DNA testing is being completed to confirm the person’s identity along with their cause of death.

Horn Lake police said the case is being investigated as a homicide.

WMC reports this is the third time something like this has happened since 2007 when a body was later found in a vehicle that was at the city impound lot.

Vehicle Management Solutions currently runs the city lot in question.

Officials did not immediately comment regarding intake protocol or about any possible investigation as to how the presumed body of Webb wasn’t found sooner.
