Woman, 4 children shot and killed; man in custody

WEST BLOCTON, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - A man in Alabama faces multiple murder charges after a shooting Thursday evening, authorities in Bibb County said.

Brandon Kendrick, 32, is charged with five counts of capital murder in the shooting deaths of a woman and four children, according to Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade.

The children were all younger than the age of 14, and all the victims were shot in the head with a handgun, the Associated Press reported.

Kendrick was married to the woman who was killed and is the father of two of the children, the Associated Press reported.

The 911 call came in after 8 p.m. Thursday from West Blocton, about 40 miles southwest of Birmingham.

Six Bibb County Sheriff and state law enforcement vehicles were observed near the scene.
