Thieves crash stolen car into gun store, steal thousands of dollars worth of firearms
LIBERTY, Mo. (KCTV/Gray News) - Surveillance footage shows the moment thieves drove a stolen car into a Missouri gun store.
The reported theft happened just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday at Adventure Outdoors in downtown Liberty.
Owner Daniel Mull said he almost threw up when he saw the footage.
“It’s very difficult to see how we are going to recover from this,” he said. “I can’t even put it into words.”
Thieves can be seen in the video ramming the car through the gun store’s front doors before getting out, heading straight for the firearms on the wall, and smashing everything in sight.
“Firearms are just one small part of our business, but they completely wiped out our firearm innovatory except for a couple of shotguns,” Mull said. “So, we are struggling to recoup that.”
According to Mull, they took nearly $15,000 worth of merchandise.
“If you recognize them in the video, please let us know,” Mull said. “We are doing a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the two in the video.”
Liberty Police Captain Nathan Mulch said they are taking this investigation very seriously.
“It is frightening to know there are numerous stolen guns out on the street now,” Mulch said. “We don’t know what their intent was to steal the guns or what they’re going to do with them. That’s why it’s so concerning.”
Mulch said the thieves left in a gray and silver-colored van.
Anyone with further information on the robbery has been urged to contact the Liberty Police Department at 816-439-4701.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has also been contacted regarding the incident.
