Protestors take to the streets of downtown Milwaukee on the first day of the Republican National Convention

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Protestors took the streets of downtown Milwaukee on the first day of the Republican National Convention to speak out against the Republican’s party agenda and their 2024 presidential nominee, former President Donald Trump.

The protest, called the Coalition to March on the RNC 2024, was made up several organizations who wanted to make their message clear to convention attendees. They paused the march just a block of the Fiserv Forum arena where the convention is taking place.

“Today is about resisting the Republicans reactionary and racist agenda. we are here to show the Republicans that they’re not welcome in our city,” said Blake Jones, Outreach Co-chair of the Coalition to March on the RNC.

They also spoke out in support of several causes like LGBTQ, immigrant, abortion and women’s rights and also called for peace and an end to the war in Gaza.

Milwaukee resident Kelly Shannon said the fact the RNC was happening in her city and Trump’s actions motivated her to attend the march.

“I just wanted to make my voice heard. I have several different, signs that I made. Supreme court is one, there’s so many things said I’m against what Trump has done that I need, that we need to correct,” she said.
