Sunny Start to the Weekend... Storms on the Horizon Again
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) -
Overnight, temperatures make it into the 50s in Rapid City for a much cooler feel to the air. Mostly clear skies are likely as we head to sleep tonight. Tomorrow, plenty of sunshine is in the forecast and we also have our coolest day in a few weeks coming up with highs barely making it into the 70s. Rapid City sees the 70 degree mark by the afternoon and evening. Pride in the Park at Memorial Park in Rapid City is looking to have picture perfect weather for the event from 9 to 4. These nice conditions wont last too long though as we do have some more storms moving in for the end of the weekend. Futurecast is showing that there are going to be very few clouds in the skies by the afternoon. Sunday storms are likely going to fire up and spread into Western South Dakota by the afternoon. A small chance for some thunderstorms are possible. There is a level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather Sunday afternoon, but more thunderstorms are expected as we head into the start of the work week and the start of July. Temperatures overnight tonight will fall into the 40s and 50s across the area with a much cooler feel to the air. Mostly clear skies settle in and turn to mostly sunny skies throughout the day tomorrow. A pleasant feel to the air throughout the entire day is expected with high temperatures staying in the 60s in some locations and low 70s in others. The next three days across NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills show that we are likely going to see some storms fire up and give us the best shot at some thunder and lightning on Monday as temperatures make a return to the 90s by Sunday. Rapid City also sees the 90s by the end of the weekend and storms returning for much of next week. Largest chances for rain and thunder come on Monday and Tuesday.
