RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Main Street, Rapid City, welcomed a new addition as the Visitor Center held its official grand opening Thursday morning.

The Rapid City Visitor Center, now located at 613 Main Street, celebrated its new location with refreshments and a ribbon cutting.

Their new, more visible downtown location will allow tourists better access to area maps, brochures, and insights from local experts ready to point people toward the best spots around the Black Hills.

The Visitor Center had a soft opening on May 9 and has already been able to help many visitors.

“The amazing part of this is that we’re already seeing over 700 people a week through the door, so obviously our community was ready for it,” Brook Kaufman, CEO of Visit Rapid City, says, “We’re very strong in leisure visitation, so people are always looking for information. It’s a really good opportunity to meet the visitors where they are, so when they’re walking by, it’s easy for them to pop in and get the information.”

The Visitor Center is open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
