Biden, Trump trade jabs during debate in Atlanta

ATLNTA, GA (Gray DC) - Donald Trump and Joe Biden walked onto the stage in Atlanta deadlocked in a tight race for the White House. New debate rules made the conversation more civil, but the rematch was still very contentious.

No notes, no audience and muted microphones. A first of it’s kind debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump still produced plenty of jabs. Trump went after Biden when the president appeared to stumble over his words.

“I don’t really know what he said at the end of that sentence,” Trump said. “I don’t think he knows what he said either.”

Biden on the other hand went after Trump’s civil and criminal legal cases.

“Molesting a woman in public. For doing a whole range of things. Of having sex with a porn star on the night, while your wife was pregnant.”

At times, the debate devolved into petty comments over golf handicaps and weight, but the candidates did face questions about their policy vulnerabilities, including Donald Trump on the overturning of Roe v Wade.

“What happened is we brought it back to the states and the country is now coming together on this issue, and it’s been a great thing,” Trump said.

“It’s been a terrible thing, what you’ve done,” Biden responded.

Biden faced questions from both the moderators and Trump about immigration.

“When he was president he was separating babies from their mothers putting them in cages, making certain the families were separated. That’s not the right way to go,” Biden said.

Trump replied, “We had the safest border in history. Now we had the worst border in history! There’s never been anything like it.”

The debate lasted just more than 90 minutes.

Most polling between the candidates shows a Trump lead within the margin of error.

This was the earliest a presidential debate has been televised before a presidential election. The next debate is scheduled for September.
