RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Today will not be as hot as Monday’s 95, but should remain warm with high temperatures in the 80s for many. A few stray storms will be possible around the central Black Hills into southwest South Dakota. We can’t rule out the chance for an isolated strong to severe storm with hail and wind as the primary threats.

Wednesday will be in the 70s and 80s with clouds increasing into the middle of the day. A few showers and storms will be possible, mainly in southwest South Dakota.

The next chance of 90s will be Thursday with partly cloudy skies. A few afternoon storms will be possible as a front swings through. Strong to severe storms are possible Thursday as this cold front moves through. The front will help usher in cooler temperatures Friday and Saturday. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s as we wrap up the week, but even cooler air settles in to begin the weekend with highs in the 70s.

Summer heat returns Sunday and Monday with highs in the upper 80s to near 90° and a stray afternoon storm possible.
