UPDATE: Suspects arrested in serious crash, drugs may be a factor
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Two people were arrested after a crash overnight at the intersection of 5th and Kansas City Street in downtown Rapid City.
CONTEXT: Serious crash sends four to hospital
According to police reports, a car ran a red light and collided with another car crossing 5th Street. All four occupants of the southbound vehicle were taken to the hospital.
The driver, identified as April Moran, 39, of Rapid City was later arrested for possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. Moran is on parole for a DWI, her third according to RCPD, and possession of a controlled substance.
A passenger, identified as Teighlor Ryan, 31, of Pierre, was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Ryan is on parole for burglary, possession of a controlled substance, assault on law enforcement, DWI (her third according to RCPD), escape, eluding and grand theft. Ryan also has three active theft warrants for her arrest.
Both Moran and Ryan were treated at the hospital for injuries from the crash, and later arrested and taken to the Pennington County Jail.
The crash is still under investigation, and additional charges will be determined pending the results of Moran’s toxicology tests for alcohol and drugs.
The four occupants in the victim’s vehicle were also taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
