Showers and storms today; hotter and drier this weekend.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Temperatures remain below normal today with highs in the 60s and 70s. Expect plenty of cloud cover to continue. Showers and storms will fire up across northeast Wyoming and move into western South Dakota during the afternoon and evening hours. A few storms may become strong to severe, but mainly in Wyoming and far southwest South Dakota.
Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary threat with any storms that do intensify and become strong to severe.
The weekend will bring back the warmer weather. 80s are likely on Saturday with plenty of sunshine. A few isolated showers and storms will be possible during the afternoon hours around the Black Hills. Sunday will be toasty! Highs climb into the 90s for much of the region as sunny skies dominate.
It will stay hot next week as highs range from the 80s to the 90s for the entire area. We’re expecting plenty of sunshine all week. While it will stay mostly dry, a stray shower or storm cannot be ruled out during the afternoon hours, mainly during the second half of the week.
