City of Rapid City seeking to fill Building Board of Appeals vacancies
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Looking to do something meaningful for your community by serving on a board?
Time’s ticking as people have until Friday to apply for eight industry vacancies on Rapid City’s Building Board of Appeals.
The board is made up of 10 members from industries including engineering, mechanical, contracting and other sectors.
The city has been looking to fill the vacancies for several months, two vacancies each for the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and contractor positions.
Members of the board are experts in their fields who evaluate ordinance amendments that have been proposed to the City’s Municipal Code.
The board also reviews the City’s building code and acts as the licensing board for Rapid City.
“We’ve had challenges in the past to keep this board filled, the vacancies filled and so this is a really big push. We’ve had some applications filed here most recently. So, we’re looking to those applications moving forward to the council to be considered,” said the City’s Communications Coordinator Darrell Shoemaker.
Shoemaker added each board member serves a three-year term. Anyone interested in filling out an application for one of the positions can go here.
