RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - On Thursday, June 13, the Heartland Senior Living community in Spearfish had an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

After having a change of management back in 2023 from Sandstone Senior Living to Heartland, the facility has undergone some changes. The staff worked hard to improve the quality of life they provide to people by renovating the indoor and outdoor spaces.

The owner of Heartland, Jesika Floyd, is excited to expand Heartland’s previous home and hospice care services.

“I’m most excited to let everyone know what our Heartland family does, with home health hospice and senior living, and see how we could better improve the quality of lives for more people to live in our facility with us and be a part of our family,” Floyd said.

One of the residents, Delaine Anderson, is looking forward to taking advantage of their new outdoor space. Anderson helped plant some of the flowers in front of Heartland Senior Living.

“I like to be outside,” Anderson said, “we have nice places to sit outside... and I like to go for a walk once in a while.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the end of updates to the facility.
