RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The time of Knights and Kings is long behind us but one event in the area transports you back to a more fantastical version of the Middle Ages.

The annual Black Hills Renaissance Festival returns to Lead this weekend with changes and a brand-new location.

This year the festival will be held just outside of Lead at the Recreational Springs Resort and Lodge, allowing for more space for activities and vendors.

The festival will include a variety of things to do and see like the jousting competition, the Knight’s Tourney performance, and a sword swallower to name a few.

Outside of activities, there will be over 60 vendors selling crafts and products related to the event’s theme. Those looking to attend have the chance to see vendors and acts you may not see elsewhere.

“One it’s the only thing in the area you’re not gonna see anything like this anywhere else unless you go at least 500 miles from here and two it’s a whole new experience that you’re not gonna get (anywhere else) and even the vendors and performers the only time they are in this area and what they are selling is in this two days,” Shareece Tatum the Executive Director of the Black Hills Renaissance Festival said.

Those looking to attend who don’t already have tickets will need to buy them at the gate, you can find more information on the event here.
