RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Are you head over heels in love with Rapid City? Well it’s time to show it through the I Love Rapid City campaign.

The Community Relations Commission is excited to launch the “I ❤️ Rapid City” campaign to express why we love our city. Why do you love Rapid City? There are so many reasons. Many have deep roots in Minneluzahan, many appreciate the parks and bike paths, beautiful Black Hills, and their great neighbors, and many feel the sacredness every day says LaFawn Janis and Paula Longfox, Commissioners with the CRC office in Rapid City. Appreciating and loving your city helps create a healthier well-being and with the fresh air, we are blessed to be in Rapid City, so let’s show it.

What do you love best about Rapid City? It’s rich culture? The weather? Your neighbors? Because we help each other; we’re the best small big town; or because of the beautiful outdoors? Whatever your reason, now you can display your love of Rapid City to your friends and neighbors, those driving by your home and to the patrons of your business.

The Rapid City Community Relations Commission is offering 400 customized signs as part of their ‘I Love Rapid City’ project. The project allows a dozen varieties of ‘I Love Rapid City’ signs carrying a red-shaped heart and different messages, including a customized ‘fill in the blank’ option.

Among the ‘I Love Rapid City’ messages: I love Rapid City because…

  • We Are Community
  • We Help Each Other
  • Our Neighbors Rock
  • It’s The Best Small Big Town
  • Of Our Beautiful Outdoors
  • Our Great Local Businesses
  • It Is Sacred
  • Of Our Rich Culture
  • My Ancestors Lived Here
  • Because It’s The Best Small Town
  • Of The Weather

Rapid City residents can place signs in their yards, in the windows of their homes and in local businesses – anywhere residents and visitors can see expressions of love for the Rapid City community. Commission members say the signs are an expression of community unity. “The signs carry inspirational messages and showcase the goodness in our community,” says Janis. “The signs are a great way for people to openly show why they love our community. With the elections finished, we also wanted to promote positivity and civil discourse.” The project is also supported by Visit Rapid City and Elevate Rapid City.
