Lincoln Bates reaches plea agreement in connection to June 2023 alleged rape

Former Mitchell Legion baseball player reached a plea agreement in connection to an alleged rape in June 2023.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Former Mitchell Legion baseball player Lincoln Bates reached a plea agreement in connection to the alleged rape of a minor at a Rapid City hotel between June 1 through the 4 of last year.

CONTEXT: Mitchell Legion baseball team members have been charged after an incident in Pennington County

Bates, 19, along with Hudson Haley, Karter Sibson, Carter Miller, Peyton Mandel, and Landon Waddell were charged with second-degree rape and aiding and abetting second-degree rape.

Monday, Bates pleaded guilty to one count of accessory to a felony with the state dropping the other charges.

The plea agreement specifies that Bates testifies in any further hearings or trials related to the incident.

He faces a maximum of five years in prison for the felony charge.

Bates’ sentencing hearing is set for August 13 in Pennington County Courthouse.
