CINCINNATI (WXIX/Gray News) – A fan ran onto the field at the Cincinnati Reds game Tuesday night, did a backflip, and ran from police before officers used a Taser on him.

Video shows the man doing a backflip while nearly kicking the officer right behind him and then take off running. The officer quickly subdues the fan with a Taser.

Cincinnati police arrested 19-year-old William Hendon on a felony charge of criminal trespass and misdemeanor obstructing official business, Hamilton County court records show.

The felony charge was downgraded to a misdemeanor Wednesday at the request of prosecutors.

Hendon “did knowingly run onto the Reds playing field during the game without permission to do so,” an officer wrote in one of the criminal complaints.

Another court document states Hendon purposely impeded a public official’s lawful duties and “did with purpose to delay his arrest run from police.”

Hendon was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center at 10:51 p.m. Tuesday and held overnight without bond, according to the jail docket.

Less than 12 hours later, Hendon appeared in court.

The judge complimented Hendon on his backflip and said he got his “15 minutes of fame” but is now banned at Great American Ball Park.

Hendon, a student at Ohio State University, pleaded not guilty and the judge released him on his own recognizance.

The case will have a pre-trial hearing on July 3.
