Stay cool and safe this summer with these swimming tips
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - According to the CDC over 4,500 people died from a drowning incident from 2020 to 2022. With the heat of summer beginning, swim safety is being emphasized.
Rapid City swimming pools are now open and seeing lots of splashes, but Rapid City Recreation Program Specialist, Teaghan Slagle shared some tips on how to stay safe while cooling off including which color swim suits are best.
”Having those bright colored swimsuits: pink, yellow, orange, green, really neon colors. I know a lot of stores around the area are offering those brighter colored swim suits. Those darker ones tend to get lost at the bottom of the pool,” Slagle said.
In addition to brightly colored suits, Slagle suggested swim lessons for kids and adults alike. You can register yourself or your child for swim lessons at the Roosevelt Swim Center located on Waterloo Street.
