Young man shot in between the playgrounds in Memorial Park
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - A shooting took place outside of the Monument last night.
On June 6, police were called to 301 N. 5th Street, at around 10 p.m. on a report of a person who had just been shot.
On arrival, the police provided first aid to the male subject, 18, who was then transported to a hospital by ambulance. The man later died. The male was identified as Wanbli Taylor Janis.
Reports said that the shooting took place after an interaction between two groups of people. After the shooting, members of the incident were seen running from the scene.
The police investigation went through the night hours and they plan to continue to canvass the area. The shooting is believed to be a random occurrence and, as a result, is believed to hold no threat to public safety.
