1-year-old girl struck and killed in hit-and-run

HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) - A 1-year-old girl was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Hartford, Connecticut, according to police.

It happened Monday around 11 p.m. near the Top Kat Super Laundromat. Police said the parents of the little girl, identified as Camila Elizabeth Ramire-Carcamo, were inside when the girl wandered out the open door and into the road.

An eyewitness said they heard a loud noise and saw the girl on the road.

Hartford police said the girl was rushed to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Police said they found the vehicle involved in New Haven, Connecticut, about 45 minutes south of Hartford. They described it as a 2013 black BMW 328xi with a Connecticut registration “BD98328.”

New Haven police said a person has been detained for questioning, but no other information on the investigation was released. Police reported it is still ongoing.

There’s no word on if the parents could face charges.
