COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS/Gray News) - South Carolina deputies are investigating the death of a child who was found unresponsive at an apartment pool.

On March 26, deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to Wildewood South Apartments at 127 Sparkleberry Lane in Columbia.

Deputies say they found a child in the pool area who was not breathing.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the child as 5-year-old Capri Robinson.

The department said deputies administered aid until EMS was able to arrive. The child was loaded into an ambulance with deputies providing an escort.

The coroner’s office says Robinson’s exact cause of death is unknown at this time but did say there is no evidence as of now that the child drowned.

“We will continue working with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to fully investigate this tragic incident,” Rutherford said.
