RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Summer Nights kicked off its 17th annual summer concert series Thursday.

This event is free, with live music and dancing. There are also food and drinks available to purchase.

Board Secretary Jade Herman said the event is run by volunteers and is made possible through sponsorship and beverage sales.

“Well, this was started by Leadership Rapid City many years ago. One of the founding members is still on our board, but it started as a community enrichment project to bring people downtown and help revitalize the area,” said Herman.

Every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day you can head downtown to party.
