The 6th Annual Black Hills Con is approaching

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Have you ever wanted the chance to dress up as your favorite video game or movie character? Well, one event in the Black Hills gives you the excuse you need.

The 6th annual Black Hills Con will be in town later this month allowing people to dress up in their wackiest outfits.

The event will feature various activities and speakers mainly geared toward anime and video game culture.

Those attending will get the chance to see guest speakers in the voice-acting industry as well as browse the products brought in by various vendors. More than anything, the event aims to connect like-minded people and potentially foster future friendships.

“It’s showing your love for a character by dressing like them,” Caroline Argiz one of the organizers of Black Hills Con said. “And I think it also gives people an opportunity to express themselves in a way that maybe they’re shy, and they can’t express themselves in everyday life. And meet other people that are very much like them and give them an opportunity to become friends and maybe even lifelong friends,” Chris Argiz said.

Chris says oddly enough he and Caroline met at a convention, and encourages anyone looking to make new friends to put themselves out there. Those looking to attend can find a link to ticket sales here.

The event runs from June 21 to June 23 at The Monument.
