Mount Rushmore springs into summer with new hours and activities

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The official start of summer is less than a month away but Mount Rushmore is already getting a head start to the season.

Starting this past weekend the memorial’s visitor and information centers are now open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the sculptor studio operating from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Summer activities range from sculptor studio presentations, cultural demonstrations, daily ranger talks, and the evening light ceremony.

For those with more time to tour the memorial, you can also walk the Presidential Trail or the Blackberry Trail to get unique views of the presidents.
