Mother says daughter still missing days after tubing with group over holiday weekend
GREENVILLE, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - A South Carolina mother says her daughter remains missing after she went tubing in Lake Greenwood over the holiday weekend.
Amicka Griffin said she found herself hysterical after police let her know her daughter, Porsha Griffin, was missing.
“When I got the phone call, I was hysterically shocked,” Amicka Griffin said. “I immediately went to the area they were searching. It’s been a lot; it’s been a whole lot to take in.”
Amicka Griffin is a mother of two and said Porsha Griffin, 30, is her oldest daughter.
According to Amicka Griffin, her daughter went tubing with three other people on Saturday but never returned.
Authorities said the three other people she went with were found safe, and they have continued to search the lake for Porsha Griffin since she disappeared.
Amicka Griffin said she is coming to terms with her daughter possibly not returning.
“I’ve accepted it because God has me. He has me covered. I am not going to question his power,” she said.
Amicka Griffin said her daughter is a loving mother to her 9-year-old granddaughter and someone she could depend on.
“She is a loving daughter, a loving mother. She was always a dependable and supportive person,” Amicka Griffin said.
The Griffin family said Porsha Griffin is also a member of the Columbia National Guard while receiving her nursing degree last year.
