Residents had to be moved to various hotels in Rapid City because of damage to the building, and now, more than a month later, the apartment complex is in a more stable condition.

Executive Director of Pennington County Housing and Redevelopment Commission Bryan Achbach says the contractor of the complex repaired the building to a safe condition. The commission felt comfortable having people move back into the building on April 25. Achbach added they are giving the contractor time to put together a plan for reconstruction.

“In order to put together a proper plan, that would be submitted to the city. So, that the proper building permits can be, you know so that building permits can be obtained for reconstruction,” Achbach said.

Achbach is optimistic that the reconstruction of the complex could be completed by next winter.
