RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Rapid City Firefighters were spread out throughout town Wednesday, but not due to a rash of fires.

They were busy raising money to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association

As part of the Fill the Boot program started by the International Association of Firefighters 70 years ago ... RCFD is continuing this tradition to support MDA’s advocacy for families living with muscular dystrophy and advance research.

Lieutenant Rachel Hobbs says the fundraiser is a rewarding experience.

“Come out and say thank you and we get to meet old retired firefighters or just getting to know the community. And seeing them on a good day instead of on their worst day as we usually do,” said Hobbs.

The Fill the Boot Drive runs through Friday. All proceeds raised by firefighters will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and people can make a donation to the campaign through this link.
