Man accused of abandoning mother dog and selling her puppies at Walmart
WOLCOTT, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) - Authorities in Connecticut say a man is facing charges for dumping a mother dog and selling her puppies.
Jose Solivan turned himself in to the Wolcott Police Department after a warrant for his arrest was issued for him on cruelty to animals and false statement charges.
Police said Solivan abandoned Mya, a dog who had recently given birth to a litter of puppies, at an intersection in the Wolcott area on April 16.
According to Wolcott police, Solivan then sold the puppies out of a car at a Walmart in Waterbury.
Police said they have recovered five of the seven puppies and they are doing well since being taken in.
Solivan was scheduled to make a court appearance on Thursday. He is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
