RCAC kicks off 2nd annual downtown Art Walks where community and creativity come together
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - First Friday’s downtown art walks are a self-guided art experience where our community comes together to enjoy arts and culture in downtown Rapid City.
Caitlin Hein, owner of Garbage Tale Vintage clothing store says there will be many businesses participating including hers and live music, poetry readings, painting activities for families, or a pop-up visual art exhibition, you get to choose your adventure or one of the paths set to engage in the thriving arts community right here in Rapid City.
The art walks will be every First Friday of June, July, August, and September where all participating businesses will be open from 5-8 p.m. Hein adds that they have over 20 businesses and last year they ended the season with 22 downtown participating businesses.
For a full list of participating businesses, you can download the map at the Rapid City Arts Council website.
Each participating business promises a unique art experience like a local performer, a visual art exhibition, an art activity for the whole family, or maybe all three. Hein says while you may not attend every activity offered, they hope you find your favorites and stop at least 2-3 businesses.
Art walks are free for participants but don’t let that stop you from supporting local artists and check out the art. See the list of the following participating businesses (so far):
