RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The Children’s House Montessori held a fundraiser filled with activities and entertainment for all ages to raise money to support their school. Sunday’s event had bouncy houses, food trucks, a children’s ‘fun run’, and a 5K race.

Michelle Kagarmanov, the director of Children’s House Montessori, says their school is growing rapidly, and they are hoping this fun event will raise money for the expansion.

“It’s a good way to build community, reach out to other people that are outside of our school community, and also take advantage of this really amazing park that we have right across from our school,” Kagarmanov said.

The Children’s House Montessori is a not-for-profit organization that follows the South Dakota Department of Education requirements while implementing a Montessori teaching method focusing on hands-on learning and real-world skills.

“All of our fundraising efforts are going to raise money to send more staff to Montessori teacher training. It’s a year-and-a-half-long program, and it costs about $15,000 per teacher,” Kagarmanov said.

Kagarmanov says that investing in this training ensures their teachers are well-equipped to provide the best possible education for the children.

“The most important thing about Children’s House and our community is the deep love and respect that the parents, the teachers, and the administrators have for the children,” Kagarmanov concluded.
