RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - This is Mixology at Home so sticking with tradition we are making this drink for the first time.

It is a shooter that is heavy on the Sambuca, my favorite liqueur that I got hooked on while living in Italy. I say heavy on the Sambuca because it is four ounces of the Italian liqueur, and an ounce of pineapple juice in a shaker with ice. Shake to chill and then strain into two shooter glasses. Then drizzle Grenadine into the drinks.

Shooter glasses are double-shot glass, taller and holding about an ounce more volume than a traditional shot glass. Unfortunately, my limited shooter glasses have not aged well so we are substituting the glassware.

So, what’s the difference between a shot and a shooter?

Shots are usually just a spirit that some people down quickly. I say “some” because when I pour a shot of bourbon, it is never downed in one gulp. I take my time and enjoy the spirit. A shooter is a miniature cocktail, with several ingredients that are sometimes layered. There is a presentation factor with a shooter. Of course, then the person guzzles the drink. Not my style of drinking.
