RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Fires are burning in northern British Columbia and other nearby provinces and the current pattern is ushering in some of that smoke into the region. This will impact air quality today, but the thicker smoke should shift east by Tuesday. Use caution if you are someone who is sensitive to wildfire smoke in the air.

Temperatures will remain warm to start this week with highs likely in the 70s. A few showers and storms are expected in the afternoon hours across Wyoming and parts of western South Dakota. But a well-defined upper level disturbance will bring more widespread showers and storms Tuesday. Temperatures will drop into the 60s and 70s on Tuesday.

A few storms will be possible on Wednesday, too. Temperatures will be in the 60s for many. We return to the 70s for the end of the week, but it will get a little breezy starting Tuesday and the wind sticks around into next weekend. Much cooler air returns Sunday into the following week.
