22-year-old killed when tree falls on car during storms
CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) - A 22-year-old man was killed as severe storms rolled through the northeastern area of Tennessee.
The Claiborne County sheriff said the man, identified as Bryce Edward Hentnick, was killed Wednesday afternoon in the Lone Mountain area.
The sheriff reported that Hentnick was killed when a tree fell on a car he was in.
Storms continue to batter the South Thursday morning after storms producing tornadoes, torrential rain and large hail impacted the area Wednesday. According to the Associated Press, at least three people have been killed in the area, including Hentnick and another person killed in Columbia, Tennessee, where officials said a tornado likely touched down.
Parts of the central U.S. experienced severe weather earlier this week, including a tornado that ripped through an Oklahoma town on Monday, killing one person. Tornadoes were reported Tuesday in several parts of the Midwest, including Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
According to the Associated Press, this week’s weather comes on the heels of a stormy April in which 300 tornadoes were confirmed, the second-most on record for the month.
