RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The multi-year construction project on Saint Joseph Street in downtown Rapid City will be completed next week.

Construction is said to be completed on May 9 nearly a month ahead of schedule. This is part of a bigger project which also included work done on Main Street. To complete the final phase of this project contractors conducted concrete and road repair work while City crews replaced water valves on Saint Joseph Street from West Boulevard to Third Street.

City Engineer Roger Hall noted that some small work still needs to be done on the crosswalks and side streets but the main construction area will be open allowing better traffic flow.

The project was the first major work done in the downtown area since the early 90′s. For information on other construction projects in Rapid City and their expected finished dates please click here.
