National Truffle Day is a good excuse to try something sweet

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - National Truffle Day is every year on May 2 and gives people the chance to celebrate with a tasty snack. There are a few options around town that can satisfy your chocolate cravings but on Wednesday we spoke with Rushmore Candy Company to see what they offered.

“We have about 12 different flavors of truffles here and I think they’re pretty good and we would just like to see ya,” Marcy Trainor the Manager at Rushmore Candy Company said.

They’re not just all variations of the same thing either, Rushmore Candy Company tries to carry a large range of flavors for their customers.

“Actually the cherry cheesecake is very popular the amaretto if you like coffee we’ve got the espresso coffee one and then we got the peanut butter and dark bourbon, those kinds of different ones,” Trainor said

Getting the right flavor choices wasn’t an overnight process, since they opened a few years ago, they have been trying all sorts to see what people like.

“Yep we started out kinda basic we didn’t know exactly what flavors would be good, but I think we’ve kind of got it narrowed down. We usually have 12 flavors and one backup just in case we run out of one,” Trainor said.
