High school teacher accused of having sexual relationship with student, buying alcohol for students at bars
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WVUE/Gray News) - A high school teacher in Louisiana is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student and buying alcohol for students at bars, according to authorities.
Slidell Police said they received complaints that 35-year-old Alexa Wingerter was sending inappropriate text messages, pictures, and communicating with boys through social media, WVUE reported.
Investigators said they found enough evidence to support that she was involved in an inappropriate and sexual relationship with at least one 18-year-old male student.
Police also said Wingerter allegedly bought alcohol for her students at bars.
She was arrested and charged with prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and student, and unlawful purchase of alcoholic beverages on behalf of persons under 21.
The school board confirmed Wingerter is no longer employed, WVUE reported.
