Chance of storms later today into this evening.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - It will be partly cloudy much of today, until storms begin to fire up in the afternoon. Some of the storms may become strong to severe with hail and gusty winds as the primary threats. No widespread severe weather is expected.

A low pressure system will strengthen south and east of the Black Hills tonight and Friday. This will allow for a steady rainfall much of Friday and into Saturday across the Black Hills region.

The highest rain totals are expected across the northern Black Hills, where up to 2″ of rain will be likely, with higher amounts possible. Much of western South Dakota will pick up a half inch to two inches of rainfall, while northeast Wyoming is expected to be on the lower end of totals - under an inch of rainfall likely, maybe under a half inch.

Temperatures will fall into the 40s and 50s from Friday - Sunday, but it will get warmer next week. Highs will reach the 60s and 70s with plenty of sunshine the first week of May. Dry weather is expected during the middle and end of next week.
