CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA/Gray News) - Emergency crews responded to a deadly road rage shooting Tuesday morning on Interstate 20 in Louisiana.

According to Caddo Parish dispatch records, the incident was first reported just after 10 a.m. on I-20 near the U.S. Highway 80 interchange.

At least 15 units with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office initially responded.

The sheriff’s office confirmed a man was killed in the shooting.

Capt. Bobby Herring, who leads the criminal investigations division for the sheriff’s office, said they believe the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident.

A driver of a tractor-trailer and another individual driving a dark-colored Acura SUV got into a verbal altercation, Herringe said. Both drivers then pulled over onto the interstate ramp in Greenwood and got out of their vehicles.

Officials said the truck driver tried to run away, but the driver of the SUV followed and “executed” him.

Authorities believe the truck driver was not from the area. He has not been identified because next of kin has to be notified.

Sheriff’s office officials said the driver of the SUV drove away from the scene. They believe the driver was traveling west on I-20 into Texas.

Multiple agencies have been notified and are working to find the driver.

Herring also said investigators are working on obtaining dash camera video from two other truckers who witnessed the shooting.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call Detective Vincent Jackson at 318-681-0700 or 318-675-2170.
