WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Black Maternal Health week is April 11 – 17. Black mothers in America are three times more likely to die during pregnancy or delivery than moms of any other race. Experts say there’s several reasons, including healthcare disparities, underlying conditions and structural racism. Debra Alfarone introduces us to a mom and a doula, dedicating her life to advocate for mothers of all races before, during and after childbirth.
